Chelsea, had to be laid to rest on 01/10/08

This girl owned Carolyn, Assistant Director of DRNW

 Tribute to a Best Friend

Sunlight streams though window pane
unto a spot on the floor......
               Then I remember
It's where you used to lie
But now you are no more....

Our feet walk down at hall of carpet
       and muted echoes sound..
              Then I remember,
It's where your paw would joyously abound

A voice is heard along the road,
     and up beyond the hill,
Then I remember it can't be yours....
         Your golden voice is still

But I'll take that vacant spot of floor
        and empty muted  hall
And lay them with the absent voice
And unused dish along the wall

I'll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
And keep them for my best friend
           untill we meet above.

RIP Babies.  We miss you!

We will miss you because you are no longer here to snuggle under blankets or kick us off our pillows or dig up a garden we just planted or attend our wiener events or make us laugh because you were a wiener brat as always or be there for us when we need you.  But we will always grateful that we were your caretakers while you were here.

If you want your baby listed here and you are a Dachshund Club of Spokane member please email a photo and description to Margo at dragoonfr @ hotmail.com (please remove spaces).

Dolly

Passed away Dec. 2008

Dolly was a small package with a big heart and the face of an angel. You could tell she had had a hard time in her life by her scars, lumps and bumps. But she refused to let even big dogs intimidate her. I knew when I saw her that I could not leave her at Margo's so after taking another rescue dog "Riley" home first, I went back and got her. Over the next several months our little family had some trying days as all 3 dogs struggled to fit in and find their own place. My little Dolly Dog's place became at my side. In my office she would lay under my desk with her head on my foot while I worked away on my computer. When I moved to the sofa for our evening movie together, she would lay at my right side with her head on my leg while Lola and Riley lay together on my left side.  This week, illness took her away from us to go be in heaven with the other little angels.  We all will sorely miss her and we are better for having known her.

This is a short video clip of Heidi below, a resident of DRNW from 2001 to 2009.  She was our fourth rescue that we kept.  We still have her puppy, Auggy-doggie, standing on the porch looking out.  heidi was 17 when she pased away in June 2009.
