4th of July Parade 2001 with our first two rescues

Can you help us "Feed a Wiener?"

Each year we are helping more and more dogs at our rescue.  In 2005 we fostered and adopted out 47 dogs, a record for us.  In 2006, I was hurt in a serious car wreck and only able to help 30 of the most dangerous dogs for the year.  We had to turn away over 80 dogs and refer them to other shelters and rescuers since June 2006 and my recovery is still ongoing.  In time I will be fine, but I am not working as a horse trainer so we still are helping needy wieners.

I hate having to say "no" more lately just because we do not have the resources to help those dogs who need someone who is a specialist in working with dangerous dogs, me.  One paycheck has to keep a roof over our heads so anyone who can help up keep helping as many dogs as possible means many will not be put down.

Why help us?  We are not a nonprofit charity as of today, but we are doing the paperwork to turn our fun hobby into a business after 15 years as we are getting in more and more needy dogs to our home needing months of rehabilitation and training before placement.  We have a proven track record of placing dogs in forever homes and we are still able to help many, many dogs each year at the farm even though we are not a business.  This has always been a fun hobby and we have always lost money doing it.  Dollars are not the most important thing in life and we feel strongly about helping our community and this is how we do it.

And we still continue to pay for these rescues from adoption fees and out of our own pockets and have done so since 1991.  This hobby has grown with the dog club and rescues so it is time to be a charity as the car wreck showed me that.

And we take in those dogs that bite or are deemed dangerous by everyone else.  Most rescues will not even consider taking in very old, crippled or badly abused and mentally ill dogs.  We take them because we know sunshine and work by someone who knows the breed will work wonders.

Any time spent with other dogs here at the rescue who are not unstable ALWAYS turns them around where we can find them forever homes.  And I am a horse person so I work at home, usually, so the dogs have a farm and a large area and our home to destroy!  Hahahaha.  And we have foster homes too so we can help as many needy wieners as humanly possible with two folks who love this breed, my husband Dennis and I, as well as many volunteers from the dog club.

So any assistance in helping us buy dog food or help pay for some vet bills or transporation to and from our adoption events once or twice a month for our homeless rescues is happily accepted.  And thank you for caring!
