Here are some very informative links on how you can halp animals being abused in your neighborhood or town.  Keep your eyes open and please help pets.  These links will get you started on how you can help.

If you witness animal cruelty here are tips on helping to gather evidence that can be used by law enforcement and animal control officers:

To help chained dogs in a yard: http://www.helpinganimals.com/i-chained.html

To explain about puppy mills and their connection to pet stores:

Petition to help animals too when natural disasters strike this country:

Information about animal abusers who become people killers later:

Why we encourage people to buy their pets from breeders and not pet shops:

Links on how to stop a cruel pet shop owner(s):

Link for info on how to help dogs in the coldest winter months:

Fact sheet on animal hoarders:

Are you aware that just one unaltered cat and her offspring can produce an estimated 420,000 cars in only seven years.  In six years, one female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies?  Link on pet overpopulation and please spay and neuter your pets:

And please do not give pets as holiday gifts without warning the people that you would like to get them a new pet.  I will not adopt to an owner that I have not met as I want to make sure that the family is my rescued dog's forever home.  So I always have a lot of needy wieners here for the month of December.

Did you know that most rabbits live over 10 years.  Did you know that Dachshunds live around 15 years if well cared for and not allowed to escape good fencing and get run over.  I have seen them as old as 21 if cared for properly.  This is a hardy breed of dogs.  It is something I think about when placing dogs in new homes too.  I want that home to be that pet's LAST home.

We do not adopt dogs before most major holidays as the new pet is usually not that family's priority during that time.  We want the new family to spend time with their pet and help them adjust to their new life as if they were a new family member and not a new piece of furniture.

Sincerely,
Margo
