It is always too hard to say goodbye to friends of two and the four footed variety. It seems so wrong that these
two boys are not here to show the new rescues how to be rotten, spoiled and mooch many treats or yell at any cars driving
up. They both were wonderful watch dogs and very helpful horse trainers at the farm.
Hunter we had rescued as a tiny pup when his mom wasn't feeding him and was going to let him starve at two
days old. We then fed him dog milk substitute and he lived to be a great hunting dog. Later in his life a very
negligent babysitter let him get run over. We nursed him back from a broken back to full health except for a crooked
tail for life and he walked again too after six months of nursing and physical therapy thank goodness. Hunter then
taught his brother below (from another litter in six months after Hunter) how to kill mice and vermin around the horse farm
as he never lost his hunting instinct. Hunter was sorta grumpy and he was very, very independent boy who never
really had to mind. Hunter needed no one, but he let us be part of his life. He turned out to be a very sweet
old dog who helped teach all the abused rescued dogs here that we were nice people and how to have fun. He became the
supervisor around the farm until he passed away September 2005 at 14 and a half.
Oscar, a full brother to Hunter above, passed away August 2004. Oscar was very mental boy when
he adopted us and he was never on overly happy dog hence the reason why he stayed because he was unadoptable. He was
never a sweet little dog to anyone, but he did have a great sense of humor. Oscar growled at us for years (that
was the way he talked) and we adored our grumpy dog. Because he was grumpy he was also noisy. I never
knew how much I listened for Oscar's grumpings even to the other dogs until it was silent. Even now we still think we
hear Grumpy wandering around here. He taught all the other dogs that schedules were to be maintained at all costs
and making his humans mind was the sole reason for being. Oscar sure kept us on schedule when it was Vitabone treat
time or brekafast and when he had to go outside to visit a shrub. He never let us get away with anything at any time.
If we left him outside for any reason and he had to come in we could never, ever forget him at any time. We still miss
that because with a herd of wieners it is easy to overlook one left outside if they are quiet and won't scratch on the door
to come inside. Oscar lived until he was almost 14 years old.
We still miss you boys and hope we will see you again sometime.

| His brother licked his ears a lot hence no hair on his ears. |
