| Our Auggie-doggy at the parade in July 2005 |

|
| Isn't he goofy looking? But he has fun with his job. |
Revised Jan. 2008.
Volunteers at DRNW:
Margo Mossburg, Founder, Director & DRNW Event Planner
Carolyn S., Assistant Director, Head Volunteer & DRNW Event Planner
(This gal does dog laundry, holds dogs for shots and toenails clippings AND picks up dog doo! She is worth
her weight in gold!)
Dennis Mossburg, On-Site Volunteer (Can you say "Slave?") and Head Construction Guy. (If it breaks he fixes
it!)
Here's a list of some of the current volunteers that help DRNW often:
Steve & Linda R, Dixie and Rusty. - Carpenters who designed, built, stores, hauls, gasses up, decorates and
drives the Wiener Dog Train at our 4 parades each year. Plus they helps at all our events too. You guys are a
ton of fun. Thanks.
Dawn & Kathey, Belmont and Jimmy - event volunteers who always show up!
Naomi & Jelly Bean - Your fundraising is invaluable.
Jayme R., Oscar and Sylvia - Thanks for the dog toys and blankets as well as adopting Sylvio!
Plus many more helpers who help us as they can, but are too numerous to list here.
Your help is always appreciated to help us place these fun dogs in new homes. Without our volunteers our
rescue would not as successful as it is today. Thanks for all your help to give back to the animals in your community!
Sincerely,
Margo
Carolyn C, Assistant Director & Head Volunteer
A large thanks is in order to Carolyn for all her hard work on this rescue. Wihtout your input and your contacts
within the dog community we could not save as many dogs as we do each year.
Carolyn helps to set-up and take down all dog adoption booths at many promotion events throughout the year and she stands
there patiently while smiling and educating the public. She also provides a lot of transportation of dogs back
and forth to the Mossburg farm and fosters as needed.
Without Carolyn's help on almost a daily basis the Mossburgs would not be able to run this successful rescue. Your
dedication by helping our rescues and area shelters is always amazing. You have helped to save many unwanted animals
in the Spokane area.
If taking funny dogs shots of you and your wiener dogs is all that we need to do to have you as a dear friend then
we are happy to keep playing your personal photographer and documenting all you do for this rescue.
You are a very treasured friend and your dedicated help is always very much appreciated. Thanks!

A large thanks is also in order to the over 400+
families, shelters and other dog rescuers that have trusted Dachshund Rescue NW to place their dogs in new homes! A
large thanks for those who come back and adopt from us more than once. Your trust in us as professional and well regarded
dog rescuers in this community is greatly appreciated.

The Mossburgs & The History of This Rescue & Wiener
Dog Social Club:
In 1991, Dachshund Rescue NW was started as a hobby for Margo
Mossburg to help keep many unwanted wieners dogs out of area shelters in the Spokane, WA, area. Mrs. Mossburg was a
Dachshund breeder for 25 years until she decided that rescuing was the best way to help curb the pet population. All
their rescued dogs that are placed in new homes are always spayed or neutered before being placed with their new families.
And Margo had a knack for retraining even the most abused or mentally ill wiener dogs so a new hobby was born.
Later,
Dennis Mossburg married into the Dachshund-saving family and they both have now rescued 400+ dogs as well as 47 in 2005 alone,
a record year. They usually rescue about 40 - 45 dogs each year on average.
The Wiener Dog Races were started by the Mossburgs
in 2003 in Spokane as a way to advertise Dachshund Rescue NW to the public. In 2003 the Dachshund Club of Spokane, a
dog social club where their people can come and have fun too, was started as well. The dog club and rescue now has many
volunteers to help plan fun dog events throughout the year including the Wiener Dog Races, Wieners on Parade at the annual
St. Patty's Day Parade and the Settler's Day Parade, two Wienerfest Potluck BBQs complete with many fun wiener dog games and
costume contests-one every summer and one every December. They all like to have fun with their dogs.
This rescue and dog club is the Mossburg's hobby,
not a business or a charity. Dennis Mossburg works in law enforcement full-time and Margo Mossburg is a horse trainer
and breeder so the dogs get to play on the farm until they are found forever homes. The Mossburgs do their rescued dogs
for fun and without public money. But they do have a lot of public support and volunteerism as they manage to find many
unwanted dogs homes each year in the Pacific Northwest.
The dog rescue is also represented about once a
month at area pet adoption events as a way to educate the public about the need to spay and neuter pets. The rescue's
largest adoption event each year is Pet Fest in June where the volunteers do the largest dog races in town with over 60 attendees
in 2004. The three time dog race champion was Baron a very fast wiener racer. Baron owns the Assistant
Director of the dog club and rescue, Carolyn S. The last two years Sevyn is the reigning race champion and she is liked
greased lightning so come watch the races each year for some fun with us and our rescued dogs. For details see http://www.spokanepetfest.com
In 2007 the annual St. Patty's Day Parade had 64 dogs and one third of those dogs walking were past
rescues who came out to play in public too. All wieners and mixes are welcome to come join us even if they are not club
members. Please email Margo at dragoonfr @ hotmail.com (remove spaces before emailing)
The Mossburgs do this rescue because all unwanted dogs
deserve to have forever homes as did Hunter and Oscar, their first two dog rescues in 1991. This rescue
is still running in honor of the first two rescue dogs who led happy and productive lives even when they were first considered
"unwanted dogs." Please see a tribute to Hunter and Oscar on this site by clicking Hunter's photo below.
