Next event after the Open House on April 30th? Pet Fest will be in May so mark your calendars!
We are working with the Pet Fest management to plan The Official Wiener Dog Races sponsored
by the Dachshund Club of Spokane. Pet Fest is May 21 & 22, 2005 at the Spokane fairgrounds so save the date.
This expanded event is two days this year. We are running purebred wieners one
day and partbred wieners the next. Who will win the run off on Sunday I wonder, a fast purebred or a partbred?
Tell your neighbors we have added the part-breds running this year please. Thanks. We want part wieners there
so the purebreds can win the races!
And the club and rescue will have our large booth again near the race ring in the last
building C again. Look for us there and drop by to say "hi."
We are always looking for volunteers to man the booth above for the weekend as well
as set-up on Friday and take-down on Sunday. If you work at least three hours and include either the set-up time on
Friday or the take-down time on Sunday then you will get a free ticket to get in to Pet Fest.
The next four people who contact me to volunteer and schedule their time will get those
free tickets good for both days of this event and they do go fast so email me soon at dragoonfr@hotmail.com to volunteer. Please tell me what day and times you can help and include your phone number as well. The wiener
dog races will be the last events, as far as I requested, on both days in the ring. I will know more as the schedule
is finilized.
Watch this web site for more details or go to www.spokanepetfest.com to sign up once they have the details posted. They are working on their site to update it for 2005
so check back often and please pre-enter your critters to save us paperwork and time during the event.
And remember if you are a Dachshund Club of Spokane member you run your wiener for
free in the races, but you still have to buy a ticket to get in the door. If you aren't a DCS member the race will cost
you $5 per dog in addition to your event tickets. Run your babies for prizes, trophies and ribbons we give away during
this event.
Have you joined the DCS yet? See the page on this site. It is only $20 per year per
family for loads of fun like these races and the St. Patty's Day Parade.
