Volunteer opportunities for the Dachshund club and rescue:

See below for job descriptions where you can help too and a handy form at the bottom to sign up to help!

We are located near Spokane, WA.  (That means Washington state in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, USA, not DC.)

Thanks in advance for helping us help the four-footed kids!  If you would like to help us help happy dogs to find forever homes your assistance is always appreciated.  See some sample volunteer job descriptions for our rescue below.

Transportation or the "DRNW Wiener Underground"

Now and then we need to transport a dog around the Pacific Northwest to medical care or a new home or to come to our rescue.  If you can help transport any dogs please sign up below.  We need details too if you regularly travel around the Pacific Northwest and have room for a kennel or two and have time to stop for potty breaks.  We also pick up a lot of dogs all over the place so if we could get some help with this part of it that would be greatly appreciated.

Fostering

Now and then we need a quick foster placement.  This is not often because Margo works at home and has time to train all the kids.  But if we ever need a vacation we might need some help.  Our we might need a quarantine if you have pets, etc.  Want to warn you though.  When folks foster a dog they end up keeping it!  Wieners are that charming of a breed.

In-Home Visits

We are contacted by folks all over the Pacific Northwest wanting to adopt.  We can't inspect all the homes on the Waiting List oif folks wanting our dogs.  If you want to do an in-home visit for us and make sure the other pets are happy and healthy, the kids and people are sweet to the animals, and they have a safe and secure fenced yard that would be helpful.

Event Volunteers

We plan many promotional events thoughout the year.  We always need help at the fair, parades and Pet Fest.  If you can work an event please let us know.

"Kiss a Wiener" at DRNW

Bring your family and/or dogs out to help socialize our dogs that come in to the rescue that are scared.  Need to have shot records for all dogs that come to visit.  No children under age 10 please for safety reasons.  All visits are by appointment only otherwise the gate is locked to keep our dogs from getting out or biting folks.

Attend Events with Your Wiener or Help us Present our Dogs

You can attend the parades, BBQs and more even if you do not have a dog.  If you love dogs but can't have one then you can always come out to any events and own a wiener for the day.

Fundraising/Research/Board Member to Become a Charity

We need ot raise enough cash to become a charity.  Any ideas?  Anyone out there who can help with the paperwork to get us started?  Petco Foundation said they would help us donate to get our tax exempt status if we can find an established 501 (c) (3) willing to help us write out that form for a donationa nd then donate it back to us to get us off the ground.  Can you help there and do some paperwork and join the board of our budding charity?
